• June 07 -- President John F. Kennedy, first President to visit Station, sees Naval aerial weaponry demonstration.
• Gemini space capsule undergoes seat ejection tests.

Silicone coating

The silicone coating on NAF China Lake F-8D Crusader BuNo 147049 is still intact, but thin, after three firings, China Lake, 22 February 1963. The coating was developed to protect against the corrosive gases of air-launched missiles. Elder Bartel of the Plastics Section, Materials Eng. Branch, Eng.
