• Mar 11 -- An A-4E Skyhawk of VA-212 launches from the USS Bon Homme Richard on the 1st flight over Vietnam with a Walleye.
• Mar. 15 -- U.S. Navy Cdr. "Mike" Reardon, U.S. Navy LCdr. Robert R. Kornegay and U.S. Navy ADJ-1 Vernon K. Whipkey lost their lives when their A-3B Skywarrior (138952) crashed short of the runway during a GCA approach to Lockbourne AFB, Columbus, OH.
• July 01 -- NOTS China Lake and the Naval Ordnance Laboratory, Corona, were combined to form the Naval Weapons Center (NWC).

• Aug. 01 -- U.S. Navy LCdr. Tom Ewell (VX-5) and three civilians lost their lives when a VX-5 A-7A Corsair II BuNo 152674 collided with civilian Cessna 210B N9771X over Owens Peak.
• Dec. 1, 1967 Mr. Richard L. Kiliz lost his life in an oven incident at Salt Wells.

/1 Post in cockpit photo reminder of the almost non-existent ground clearance of the M-118. Takeoff required accelerating to 150 knots to extend the landing gear oleos before performing a slow rotation to flying angle of attack. If the bomb did not release, there was no way to land the A-4 with the bomb aboard and prevent the fins from dragging on the runway. The M-118 bomb had nearly 100# of HBX explosive as a spotting charge so it was not to be taken lightly...
