• Sep. 11 -- LTjg James David Watkins, from Lemoore, lost his life when his VA-195 A-7E Corsair II (159262) didn't recover from a bombing run SW of Darwin on northern end of China Lake range.
• Sep. 30 -- U.S. Navy Cdr. Dennis E. Becker lost his life when his Mitchell Wing B-10 powered Ultralight crashed on Mirror Lake.
