/1 Maj. Dan Daetz, a test pilot, and Lt. Col. Dan Morin, a weapons system officer... This was the first WCMD drop from an F-15E. The WCMD is a tail kit slated to replace the existing tails on cluster bomb dispensers. The new tail will enable these weapons to compensate for the effects of wind, launch transients and ballistic errors, achieving greatly improved accuracy. WCMD-equipped weapons are planned for employment on the B-1B Lancer, B-52 Stratofortress, F-15E, F-16 Fighting Falcon, and F-117 Nighthawk.

/2 Lt. Col. Troy Fontaine, a test pilot, and Maj. Kevin Steffenson, a weapons system officer... The mission, which proved successful, was to put the five 2,000-pound weapons on five separate, preplanned targets using global positioning system coordinates.

/3 The U.S. Navy's Fire Scout Vertical Takeoff and Landing Tactical Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (VTUAV) launches into its flight test program at the Naval Air Forces Western Test Range Complex in California. Fire Scout has been designed to provide situational awareness and precision targeting support for the Navy and Marine Corps, as a fully autonomous UAV requiring limited human intervention. Future operations are planned for the UAV this summer.

/4 Warfighters keep a close eye on screens showing a real-time picture of theater air assets and a live feed from a Predator surveillance aircraft during Millennium Challenge 2002. MC02 incorporates elements of all military services using the largest computer simulation federation ever constructed for an experiment of its kind.

/5 After taking off from Edwards during recent test flights, the AMSTE team engaged in complex moving target scenarios at the Naval Weapons Center in China Lake, Calif. These flight experiments demonstrated multiple, simultaneous JDAM weapon deliveries and integrated AMSTE technologies with the JSOW.

/6 A Tactical "Tomahawk" Block IV cruise missile is escorted by a Navy F-14 Tomcat fighter during a controlled test over the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) western test range complex in southern California. During the second such test flight, the missile successfully completed a vertical underwater launch, flew a fully guided 780-mile course, and impacted a designated target structure as planned. The Tactical "Tomahawk", the next generation of Tomahawk cruise missile adds the capability to reprogram the missile while in-flight to strike any of 15 preprogrammed alternate targets or redirect the missile to any Global Positioning System (GPS) target coordinates. It also will be able to loiter over a target area for some hours, and with its on-board TV camera, will allow the war fighting commanders to assess battle damage of the target, and, if necessary redirect the missile to any other target.
